College Diploma - Denture Design and Fabrication (DDFA)

In a dental laboratory environment, students develop skills in the design and fabrication of dentures, including complete and partial prosthetics and implants. They apply a problem-solving framework, basing decisions, judgments and interventions on current theory and research. The program emphasizes interprofessional education and collaboration within an oral healthcare team.

Students use advanced technologies to design and fabricate digital dentures, including computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software, scanners, 3D printers and bench mills. Legal and ethical responsibilities are also emphasized. In preparation for employment, students practise and enhance their knowledge and skills in denture design and fabrication through experience in an external professional laboratory.

The program includes a clinical placement component that enables students to gain practical experience under the supervision of an experienced registered or licensed professional.
