Biological Sciences is an exciting and rapidly developing field, bringing together knowledge, ideas and techniques from all areas of biology to allow us to expand our understanding of the human body and its interplay with the environment. The science of life is perhaps the key science of the 21st century. We know that the next generation of biological scientists will play an essential role in addressing some of the major problems facing modern civilization - overpopulation, environmental change, human health and wellbeing within an ageing society. As such, we can expect the opportunities that exist for skilled biological scientists to be rich, rewarding and varied, and the ongoing investment of governments in the sector means that they are only likely to grow.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biological Sciences is designed to develop students' understanding of the processes underlying life and health in whole organisms, focusing particularly on humans. Students of the Biological Sciences degree will gain the skills and knowledge they need to be a part of the future, benefiting from the teaching and research insights of Loughborough University's internationally renowned academic staff. Over the duration of the Biological Sciences degree students will explore such fascinating topics as human evolution, anatomy and physiology, genetics and molecular biology, growth, developing and ageing.
