2-Term Undergraduate Foundation Program - Humanities and Social Sciences - Continue to - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Criminology and Criminal Justice

The Undergraduate Foundation Program in Humanities and Social Sciences is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Lancashire.

The Foundation portion of this program lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

There are four academic pathways to choose from and candidates will study the pathway most suited to their chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare them for university study. The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Life Sciences.

The students will learn about criminal justice, examining how offenders and victims get treated by the system in the UK. The subject is developing rapidly as new areas of study open up for criminological investigation. The students will explore issues around how crime gets defined and managed in our society. As they progress through the course, The students will have the option to study in areas such as policing, the prison system or social work.

The course rigorously examines how crime gets perceived, defined and managed in communities. The students will develop a critical stance through a broad curriculum that forms an excellent exploration of this subject. Study a balanced mix of compulsory and optional modules taught by specialists in these areas.
