What you will study

The BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming at Derby equips students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to develop high-quality computer games.

The programme begins with a first-year focus on the fundamentals of computer science, allowing students to explore their interests and develop their talents. Learning takes place in state-of-the-art facilities, including the XR (cross-reality) lab, and combines in-depth understanding of computer science with a strong emphasis on practical programming skills specific to games development.

The course offers an optional industrial placement year to enhance professional experience and networking opportunities.

Assessments are conducted entirely through coursework, with no written exams, and students have the flexibility to transfer to another course within the Computing portfolio after the first year.
