Langara College
Langara College’s animation department has completed the final stage of its Quality Assurance Process Audit and announced the launch of a new 3D animation program beginning in Fall 2025. The former 3D Animation for Game, Film & Visual Effects program has been redesigned and renamed the 3D Technologies for Film and Games program.
Recognizing the rapid growth of the global animation, visual effects, and gaming industries, Langara has developed this intensive two-year diploma program to provide students with the technical and creative expertise required to excel in these dynamic fields.
Throughout the 24 month program, students train with industry-standard software and hardware under the mentorship of seasoned professionals and expert instructors. The curriculum covers a wide range of disciplines, including character design, modelling, drawing, environment design, compositing, texturing, rigging, lighting, rendering, game and level design, and storyboarding. Training takes place in Langara’s advanced computer labs, designed to replicate real-world production environments.
Structured across six consecutive terms, the program mirrors the pace and expectations of professional studio work, ensuring students are career-ready upon graduation. Program completers will earn a diploma from one of British Columbia’s most respected public colleges, along with a polished professional portfolio and demo reel showcasing their skills and creative achievements.
