What you will study

With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) degree, the students can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if they are interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, students can major in kinesiology and marketing. The Combined B.A./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees. Bachelor of Management - Political Science

Political science is the systematic study of government, politics and political behaviour. It looks at how political conflict is organized and resolved, how rulers are chosen, how governmental decisions are taken and what policies and laws are determined and implemented. This can be done in settings ranging from Canada as a whole, to provincial and local governments, to other countries to the relations among countries. It also considers how political actors understand their obligations towards one another and the degree to which decisions are ethically determined or out of convenience.

Political science students will study the principles, organizations, and administration of government. The major includes both management and political science courses. The political science major offers flexibility to choose courses that fit each student’s personal and career interests. In addition to the required courses, political science majors can choose six political science and three management electives.

Bachelor of Arts - French/Spanish

The Department of Modern Languages & Linguistics offers instruction in three languages: French, Japanese and Spanish (beginner to advanced).

In today's globalized context, students of modern languages are being prepared for membership in a global community that extends far beyond the boundaries of the English-speaking world. Modern Languages is about far more than just learning how to communicate in another language. It’s about exploring other identities and values through language, literature, history and culture in a global community.

Thanks to the small class sizes, innovative instructors and the latest in language-learning technology, this program makes language learning a lively and satisfying experience. At the beginners' and intermediate level the program teaches students to communicate with native speakers, orally and in writing, and introduces them to the everyday life of the speakers of French and Spanish as well as to their music, films and books. They can continue their study of spoken and written French and Spanish to an advanced level.

Graduates who study French/Spanish will gain awareness of other cultures through courses in language, literature, and culture and civilization, and through academic and living experiences in Canada or abroad.

Classes are taught in the language being studied — so, French courses are taught in French and Spanish classes in Spanish. Students can specialize in one language or study a combination.
