Bachelor of Arts - Geography (Optional Co-op) (UZJ)
Wilfrid Laurier University - Waterloo
What you will study
Students can examine human and physical features on Earth and the processes shaping them, focusing on human geography, migration patterns, travel behavior, health, food systems, urban development, and sustainability. They will learn geography-related methods and technologies, including global positioning systems, spatial analyses, crewless aerial vehicles data collection, geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing. In Wilfrid Laurier University's Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Geography program, students will study human or physical geography using social and natural science techniques to analyze spatial and temporal patterns. They will critically address complex issues in urban geography, migration, health, food systems, river systems, coastal systems, and the atmosphere influenced by human activity. In a BA focusing on Human Geography, students will explore cultural and social dimensions of world usage, population change, mobility, and environmental impacts of human behavior. They will investigate urbanization, transportation, energy use, human development trends, sustainability, and migration patterns. In a BA focusing on Physical Geography, students will learn how the planet's surface changes due to climate change and how natural processes function, as well as the effects of human activity. The program covers all main aspects of geography in the first two years, allowing specialization in the third and fourth years to develop advanced research skills.
