Overview
In Year One, students take compulsory modules in Foundations in Politics and Foundations in International Politics, as well as modules focused on Comparative Politics, and study skills. Students also have the option to take modules in either Political Theory or British Politics as well as 30 credits available to take modules elsewhere in the University. Then in Years Two and Three there are a wide choice of optional modules, including the option of a Dissertation in Year Three, giving students the chance to complete a sustained, original piece of work on a topic of their choice. If students split their degree between French and another subject area, students will study a French language module, at beginners’ or advanced level, and a cultural module per semester, alongside two other modules in the other subject. If students combine French with a non-language subject, they will spend the Year Abroad in a French speaking country as an assistant in a school, as a student at a university or on a work placement.
