The Associate in Arts in Art is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the areas of drawing, painting, design, digital art, and art history. Students acquire the necessary skills and experience to demonstrate an extensive understanding of materials, technique, philosophy, and aesthetics in the creative process.
Program Learning Outcomes: • Students will create and critique works of art in a supportive environment using traditional and new art media according to established principles of art and design. They will be able to communicate orally and in writing about art and design related topics. • Students will develop their vision to devise innovative solutions to creative and technical problems. • Students will present to the instructor a portfolio of work which will be evaluated according to the criteria of technical mastery, creativity, solving problems with original solutions, and meeting the stated goals of the assignment. • Students will develop critical thinking skills as they analyze, compare and contrast, and trace the development of art forms from different parts of the world from ancient to modern times
