Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Business Management and Accounting
University of Derby - Derby
What you will study
The BA (Hons) Business Management and Accounting combines core business management principles with accounting knowledge, enhancing employability by developing expertise across two complementary subject areas. The course prepares graduates for a wide range of roles within business, management and accounting, while also providing valuable commercial insight applicable to non-business careers. Strong emphasis is placed on practical, real-world learning through industry projects, links with overseas partners and opportunities to undertake a placement year between the second and third years of study.
The programme encourages the application of theoretical business, management and accounting frameworks to real organisational contexts, ensuring learning remains relevant and industry focused. Academic expertise is used to bridge theory and practice across the business and accounting sectors.
Students can tailor the degree through a range of optional modules in areas such as logistics, human resource management, marketing, enterprise and finance, enabling alignment with individual interests and career ambitions. The course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), confirming that it meets high professional standards in management and leadership. Successful completion of specified Business Management modules allows students to gain a CMI professional qualification alongside the degree, as well as access to professional mentoring and CMI member benefits. Additional accounting accreditations may also be available depending on module choices.
