Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Psychology with Clinical and Counselling Skills (C8B9)

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Clinical and Counselling Skills at the University of West London helps students to appreciate the processes that influence how people think, behave, feel and interact, and to examine the valuable role of counsellors, with a strong focus on the complexities of substance misuse and addiction.

Students will have the chance to gain insight and advice on careers in psychology and related areas from practising psychologists.

Students will learn from staff and guest speakers with valuable experience in the field, while also having the opportunity to apply their learning in a setting of their choosing.

The University’s psychology research facilities include state-of-the-art brain imaging electroencephalogram (EEG), eye-tracking equipment, an immersive experience room, and a range of experiment and research software. Students are provided with access and a high standard of support for the use of these facilities.

Upon completion of the course, students may be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS), which includes the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). GBC is the first step toward becoming a Chartered Psychologist and allows students to pursue further BPS-accredited postgraduate training in areas such as clinical, educational, or occupational psychology. To be eligible for Graduate Membership and GBC, students must pass the empirical psychology project and be awarded at least a Second Class Honours degree. Becoming a Chartered Member of the BPS requires additional accredited postgraduate training, supervised practice, and relevant experience, depending on the chosen field of psychology.
