Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Accounting and Business – The Flying Start Degree Programme (NN41)

University of Reading

What you will study

BA Accounting and Business is a fast-track degree route to becoming a Chartered Accountant in the UK. This four-year programme gives students the benefit of going to university, getting paid work experience and fast-tracking their career. The programme has been developed in partnership with PwC, the UK’s leading professional services organisation, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

This is an innovative, challenging degree designed to accelerate student's route into employment and their progress towards a professional accountancy qualification. Gain a strong academic and professional foundation in business and accountancy and complete a significant proportion of the work experience and technical study requirements needed to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

In the first year, students will study alongside other students at Henley Business School – in keeping with the traditional university experience. They will gain a thorough grounding in fundamental aspects of accounting, business, ethics and law. In the second and third years, students will combine academic study with paid professional work placements at PwC, lasting 12-16 weeks each. The fourth year will include a final work placement of 16-20 weeks. During the three placements, students can expect to earn a competitive salary, offsetting a significant proportion of their tuition fees or living costs.
