What you will study
Program Description Foundation Studies Program (Standard) - Physical Science (X0F:5) (0100808): The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.
To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.
Bachelor of Pharmacy with Applied Honours (54A): The pharmacy degree at the University of Tasmania is a professionally accredited program, providing students with specialist skills and expertise in the basic and clinical pharmaceutical sciences. This is complemented by hands-on experience through professional experience placements, which help them gain the skills and attitudes required to become a registered pharmacist in Australia.
Students will develop their clinical pharmacy expertise on drugs and diseases to optimise the use of medicines across the healthcare system, learn to communicate effectively with patients and other members of the health care team, and develop the skills required to source, prepare and supply medicines accurately and efficiently.
As a pharmacy student an individual will study various topics influencing human health such as: • the role of a pharmacist • how medications and their dosages are made • how medications work in the human body • using medications and other means to prevent and manage medical conditions
The University of Tasmania's pharmacy graduates are globally recognised for the quality of their clinical pharmacy skills and ability to transform pharmacy practice, going on to work in the wider community, hospitals, research facilities and even the military.
