Program Description If a student has finished high school but does not meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them to gain entry to an undergraduate degree. Admission to the University of Nottingham can be gained through a pathway course at the University of Nottingham International College. Students will be part of a large international student population at the University of Nottingham. An American Studies and History degree course opens up new worlds and possibilities. On this fascinating degree, students will deepen your knowledge of how societies develop and learn how the past influences the present. Students are offered a real variety of modules in both American Studies and History covering: • The Crusades • 19th-century Japan • The Cold War • Civil Rights • US Foreign Policy • Crime and punishment
Students will also study American and Canadian film, music, art, politics, literature and culture in the largest department of its kind in Europe. Students can also experience North America, by choosing to study abroad for a year at a US or Canadian university. Students do this by transferring to the study abroad programme at the end of the first year. The option to study abroad is dependent on academic performance and the availability of placements.
