Queen's University

What you will study

This Upper Year Entry path is for upper-year applicants. The path is for those who are completing their first year at another university, or have completed or are close to completing a diploma program at a community college, and are interested in transferring to Queen’s University.

Queen's University Geological Engineering offers a core program in physics, mechanics and mathematics combined with geology, geophysics, geochemistry, site investigation and engineering design applied to geotechnical, geo-environmental and mineral and energy resource engineering.

In this program, students apply principles and techniques of the earth sciences to solve engineering challenges such as preventing soil and water contamination, managing natural hazards, extracting mineral and energy resources, and building infrastructure with, or within, earth materials. They will study physics, chemistry, applied mathematics and natural processes such as earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics and mountain formation. Students will also acquire field, laboratory, and computer simulation skills and training in state-of -the-art geological investigation and engineering analysis tools.

Areas of specialization: • Geo-environmental Engineering • Geotechnical Engineering • Applied Geophysics • Mineral and Energy Exploration
