2-Term Pathway - Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation Certificate - Transfer to Master of Science (Honours) - Physics - Theoretical Physics

Program Description If a student has finished high school but does not meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them to gain entry to an undergraduate degree. Admission to the University of Nottingham can be gained through a pathway course at the University of Nottingham International College. Students will be part of a large international student population at the University of Nottingham. It is a member of the elite Russell Group, and is consistently ranked among the world’s best schools.

Nottingham is home to Nobel Prize-winning research and the popular Sixty Symbols YouTube channel.

The fourth year consists of student-centred learning with synoptic modules. Students will focus their study in fewer but more specialised areas and complete a year-long research project. Under the guidance of our expert staff students will benefit from a range of learning styles. These include group work, delivering seminars, projects and independent learning.

This course focuses on the sophisticated theoretical techniques and applications of modern physics. Optional modules on topics ranging from nanoscience to astronomy allow students to focus on a specialist area that interests them. Practical study will be replaced by more in-depth mathematical study.

Students go on to further research at postgraduate level, or to work in industries such as engineering, aerospace, IT, and finance.
