The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology certificate program provides practical training in the installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Students gain foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, refrigeration principles, piping practices and industry-standard tools and equipment.
Through classroom instruction, laboratory exercises and hands-on projects, students learn to interpret technical drawings, perform system measurements and diagnostics, follow safe work procedures and apply relevant codes and environmental regulations. The program also introduces energy efficiency, indoor air quality and sustainable HVAC/R technologies.
Graduates are prepared for entry-level opportunities with HVAC/R contractors, building-maintenance departments, equipment suppliers and facilities-management organizations. Further training, workplace experience or certification may be required for regulated trade licences and specialized industry credentials.
