If students hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Course length is determined mainly by students' English language level (UKVI IELTS score).

Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If their course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Master of Business and Management (MBM)

This is a broad business and applied management Masters degree, designed to give students the edge in applying for well-paid managerial positions. It is open to those without a degree in business, as well as those already in work, but without the necessary experience to undertake an MBA.

Essex's Master of Business Management (MBM) provides knowledge of the main functional areas within organisations, their structure and processes and the changing environments they operate in. Students develop their quantitative skills in analysing financial data, so they can make informed decisions to solve complex business challenges.

Students will learn how to formulate strategies to meet performance objectives, as well as how to manage and allocate resources to sustain competitive advantage. They will explore how to run business operations effectively in cross-cultural settings and explore the process of creating their own entrepreneurial venture.
