What you will study

TAFE NSW's Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (Class 1) - (Motor) will help candidates to develop the practical skills and in-depth knowledge required to perform various specialised tasks when working as an Engineer Class 1.

Graduates will learn to plan and schedule operations and organise safe maintenance and repair procedures, and develop the skills necessary to operate and maintain electrical machinery, electronic control and engine equipment. They will also learn to manage the vessel's administration, including its business, legal and personnel aspects.

The course has been designed specifically to help students meet the licensing requirements of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). While they will also need to meet other requirements, including sea time hours and medical requirements, this course provides them with the skills and knowledge necessary to be prepared.
