This course will develop students' understanding of the concepts and principles underpinning the care of patients undergoing urology surgery as well as their ability to find, critically evaluate and apply relevant research evidence to ensure clinical effectiveness.
The knowledge and skills students develop will enhance their clinical decision making and research practice within urology enabling them to contribute to the knowledge base. Students are encouraged to focus on topical issues within urology surgical practice, concentrating on aspects of practice that are relevant to their specific interests and practice.
The course enables students to:
• further develop an understanding of the principles and clinical concepts underpinning practice in general urology and minimal access surgery in urology • further develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform evidence-based practice and research within the specialist field of general urology and minimal access surgery in urology • foster a commitment to lifelong learning and an inquisitive approach to clinical practice in general urology and minimal access surgery in urology that will enable students to acquire skills to practice safely and enhance their practice.
