Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) - Melbourne

What you will study

The Associate Degree in Engineering has been designed to equip students with a broad theoretical and technical knowledge of the underlying principles of engineering.

Students will learn to analyze and interpret complex problems, communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders, and find effective solutions to the issues facing industry.

Offering six majors, students will get to choose to focus on mechanical, aerospace, advanced manufacturing and mechatronics, electrical and electronics, computer and network, or civil engineering. Each major will immerse them in the subject, giving them the specialist skills they need to pursue a career in their preferred area of engineering.

In the first year, students will learn fundamental principles of engineering that apply across different areas of engineering. At the end of the first year, they will select their major, choosing between: • advanced manufacturing and mechatronics • aerospace engineering • civil engineering • computer and network engineering • electrical and electronics engineering • mechanical engineering

Students will choose subjects relevant to their engineering major and undertake a real-world project to design, develop, and present a product. Upon graduating from this program students may be eligible for entry into the relevant bachelor degree program or they can work in a relevant field.
