Bachelor of Applied Science - Engineering Physics (QE)

Queen's University

What you will study

Students will learn how to apply the knowledge of the fundamental physical principles underlying modern technology and processes. Students will study a strategic combination of math, physics, and engineering courses from a chosen specialty area. Courses in quantum mechanics, laser optics, and nanotechnology will help prepare students for an engineering career at the leading edge of technology. Students will acquire advanced problem-solving and instrumentation skills, and will be able to apply their superior mathematical, analytical, and abstract-thinking abilities to modern engineering challenges.

Areas of specialization include mechanical, computing, electrical, and materials.

The first year of study in Engineering and Applied Science is based on a common curriculum and serves as an introduction to all of the academic plans offered by the Faculty. The choice of academic plan the student intends to follow in the second and subsequent years is made in February in the Winter Term of the first year.

Note: Students in this program are also eligible for the Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) which provides 2nd or 3rd year students with a 12-16 month work experience. The internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions offering students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices, and technologies in business and industry.
