Associate in Applied Science - Individualized Studies - Career

Today’s employers often look for those with skills in more than one discipline. In addition, organizations frequently require employees to seek additional schooling to improve their performance or advance to higher-level positions. For these reasons, GCC’s Individualized Studies program is designed for those who are seeking immediate employment after graduation. Students will determine their specific career goals, and with the assistance of their advisor and other staff, create a unique sequence of courses to achieve their goals. This program is also targeted for employees and employers to tailor programs to meet specific industry or job needs. In addition to specialized course work, students will receive a solid general education foundation, as well as gain skills in oral and written communication, basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Upon successful completion of the AAS in Individualized Studies program, the graduate will be able to: • Apply effective oral communication skills in various contexts. • Write effectively in various contexts. • Solve college-level mathematical problems. • Demonstrate competency in the use of various computer applications. • Apply the scientific method to a problem related to a social science discipline. • Apply the scientific method to a problem related to a natural science discipline. • Describe the importance of particular historical events in an American, international, or global context. • Describe the importance of particular historical events in an American, international, or global context.
