The Master of Science in Software Engineering Systems program prepares students for in-demand careers as software developers who design and engineer complex software systems that drive social impact. The Master of Science in Software Engineering Systems program approaches software development from the analytical and methodological perspective of an engineer. Students build advanced design and engineering skills, expand their knowledge in cloud computing, and develop machine learning algorithms. Their understanding of the intersection of computer science, engineering, and ethics equips them to make meaningful societal contributions in a high-demand field across multiple industries. The program offers a wide range of courses in big data engineering and analytics, along with supplementary coursework designed to help students present data analytics results to management in a clear and effective manner. Because of the complex, high-level mathematical operations required to support these systems, only software engineers possess the necessary expertise to work in such advanced areas. The program can be combined with a Gordon Engineering Leadership certificate or with a graduate certificate offered by the College of Engineering. Over the past decade, graduates have demonstrated strong success in securing employment.
