2-Semester Pathway - International Foundation Year - Science and Engineering - Transfer to Master of Mathematics (Honours) - Mathematics with Economics
University of Sussex International Study Centre
What you will study
Program Description This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In your International Foundation Year, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
In the International Foundation Year in Sciences & Engineering, you will explore and begin to understand the power of engineering and science in the real world. While you begin to learn the technical aspects of your desired degree program you will also be provided with a critical outlook and approach employers want in your chosen field.
If you want to learn how to apply mathematics to solve real-world economic issues, this Master of Mathematics in Mathematics with Economics course is for you. You’ll gain a thorough grounding in the theories and techniques that underlie modern mathematics and economics, and you’ll explore the relationship between them.
You’ll learn from experts in both disciplines. Our mathematicians’ research is making a world-changing impact in diverse areas, ranging from smart materials and predicting floods to the behaviour of queues, social networks and infectious disease control. Our economists are world-renowned leaders in development economics, international trade, and environment and energy, and are shaping global policy.
The use of industry-standard software (such as MATLAB, Python and R) develops your analytical and modelling skills. You’ll graduate with the knowledge required to take your career in any direction you choose.
You’ll be guided throughout your degree by an academic adviser. We’ll support your career development with opportunities to engage with potential employers, while you develop the confidence and competence they’re looking for.
During your integrated Masters year, you’ll develop new skills in both subjects and apply them to an advanced research project. This is particularly relevant if you're interested in going on to a research career at universities or in industry.
