Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Mechanical Engineering (Sandwich Year)

Nottingham Trent University - Clifton Campus

What you will study

Program Description Students will get the perfect blend of learning, in and outside of the classroom. Nottingham Trent University will refine students' creative problem solving skills through exploring the latest digital technologies and providing hands-on skills, as well as building their confidence and experience through live projects and the annual industry Grand Challenge.

As well as the support students will get from expert staff and technicians, there’s the chance to set their own direction with a range of optional modules, online resources and projects. Recently students have worked on reverse engineering everyday objects, designing and building a Mars lander, and using industry standard software packages to design and build a model bridge.

This all adds up to a confident, work ready graduate who has loads of career options – medical, environmental, automotive, aerospace, resource, advance manufacturing, alternative energy and many more.

The Mechanical Engineering courses are highly practical and use real examples and projects from industry. On this course, students will be guided on how to analyse and solve mechanical engineering problems by producing their own creative and innovative solutions using the latest technology.

This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

This course is recognised by CDIO, a framework that has a project based learning approach. This framework stresses engineering fundamentals set in the context of Conceiving — Designing — Implementing — Operating (CDIO) real-world systems and products. The framework is dedicated to providing students with their initial grounding in engineering through live projects.

Please be advised that this program includes a sandwich year, which will be studied during the student's undergraduate degree.
