Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Chemical Engineering (Placement Year) (H806)

Loughborough University - Loughborough Campus

What you will study

Chemical engineers take leading roles in many different sectors. These range from energy and water, food, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and even finance. They use their technical know-how and ingenuity to develop solutions to many of the world’s most pressing challenges. For example, climate change and the large-scale production of new vaccines.

Loughborough University's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering covers the principles of designing and operating an industrial process, including mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, chemical reactor theory, mixing and separation processes, process control, plant safety and process economics. The Chemical Engineering program is predominantly based on mathematics and physical sciences, together with computing, chemistry and some biology.

The Chemical Engineering program will teach students how to apply scientific and engineering principles to the design and analysis of chemical process equipment and flow sheets. The bench and pilot-scale laboratories, computer classes and project work will help students to understand and apply taught principles to engineering problems, whilst also developing key laboratory, teamwork and Information Technology (IT) skills.
