Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts - General Major Social Sciences & Bachelor of Business Administration - General Management (Optional Co-op)
University of Lethbridge - Lethbridge
What you will study
With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing.
Bachelor of Management - General Management
Management is leading others to accomplish common goals in business. They have to know how to deal effectively with rapidly changing environments, work successfully with small and large teams, live and work by principles of ethics and social responsibility and be aware of responsibilities to sustainability.
General management students study topics such as marketing, organizational behaviour, introductory accounting, managing responsibly in a global environment, human resources management, policy and strategy and probability and statistics. They will draw from fields such as history, English, political science, economics and sociology.
Bachelor of Arts - General Major Social Sciences A general major in the social sciences, unlike a single discipline major, allows students to customize their course selection to their interests and abilities. Where students compromise depth of focus in one area, they gain breadth of knowledge in a few key areas, thus increasing their flexibility. This multidisciplinary approach provides access to the "big picture" or the wider context of any subject area. Conversely, the courses students choose can enhance their focus, and provide a cross-discipline perspective on one particular theme.
Students choosing a general major in the social sciences select three disciplinary streams from the following: • anthropology • archaeology • economics • geography • history • Indigenous studies • kinesiology • political science • psychology • sociology • women & gender studies
