Overview
The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program will help improve students' English to qualify for admission to University of Saskatchewan degree programs. Students can receive joint admission to the University of Saskatchewan Language Centre and any of the University of Saskatchewan's six direct-entry colleges:
• Agriculture and Bioresources • Arts and Science • Education • Edwards School of Business • Engineering • Kinesiology
Once students finish the highest level of your full-time English program, they can progress into their degree program in the next available term without needing to reapply for admission or submit an English language proficiency test score.
The University of Saskatchewan Language Centre offers excellent instruction in English and first-rate cultural adaptation programming to help students transition to life in Canada. Make new friends, experience Canadian culture and learn advanced English language skills and academic skills to help them succeed in your classes!
When students apply for joint admission to an undergraduate degree program and to the University of Saskatchewan Language Centre, they can choose between two channels of English study:
• U-Bridge • U-Prep
Passing the highest level of English in either channel allows students to meet the university’s English language proficiency requirement for admission to direct-entry degree programs. Both programs will help students prepare for successful study at the University of Saskatchewan.
U-Prep can help students build a strong foundation in English if they don’t meet the requirements to enter U-Bridge or if they are not ready to begin university study. Students will receive instruction in the four pillars of language study:
• Speaking • Listening • Reading • Writing
Students will be able to practice these skills with their classmates and instructors through group work, presentations, and writing assignments. This practice will help them prepare to transition to your degree program.
