Master of Science - Advertising and Marketing Communications (2 Year)

Nottingham Trent University - City Campus

What you will study

Program Description Creative marketers are in high demand as organisations, brands and agencies look for fresh perspectives on how to tackle existing and emerging challenges faced today. With the rapid inception of new technologies and channels, and changes in consumer behaviours and perceptions, the industry needs new thinking. Created in close consultation with senior marketing professionals and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Nottingham Trent University's MSc Advertising and Marketing Communications degree will prepare the student for the dynamic world of marketing communications, equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make their mark.

Through contemporary case studies and applied projects, the student will be introduced to the principles of communications, marketing and consumer behaviour and develop a comprehensive knowledge of advertising and communications theory and agencies management in global settings. In their third semester, the student will choose an experiential project. With the opportunity to use their skills in a real-world setting, the student can choose from completing a consultancy experience project, an internship experience project, or a business research project.

This course is aimed at students from a range of backgrounds who don't necessarily have a background in marketing or advertising. Whether they want to work for a creative advertising agency or in-house for major international companies, Nottingham Trent University's MSc Advertising and Marketing Communications degree will ensure the student learns the theory, tools and techniques needed to develop into an effective marketing specialist ready to operate at strategic and tactical levels in industry.

Students opting for the two year route can add a year’s work placement onto their course. It’s a great way to put learning into practice and gain valuable real-world experience to help boost career prospects once graduating.

The placement year will last up to 48 weeks (minimum 36 weeks). If students are unable to take a full year's placement, but have completed the minimum 36 weeks, they can qualify for a Placement Diploma in Industrial Experience. If students undertake a placement, they must take up the Business Research Project in Semester Three.
