From entrepreneurial start-ups to working in a large corporate office, an Associate Degree in Business can be applied to any industry. Students will study the scope and place of business in the economic system and gain an understanding of:
• The internal organization of business • Basic management skills • Accounting • Principles of marketing and management • Relevant areas of business law
With a degree from GCC, students will establish critical and creative thinking abilities and develop leadership skills. Industry increasingly demands businesses to provide “more, better, faster, cheaper,” and it is paramount for business executives to acquire a customer-first mentality.
The Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree prepares students for entry-level management positions in business and public service organizations.
Students will gain a working knowledge of:
• Business functions and procedures • Accounting, finance and legal concepts applicable to business professions • Economics • Computer applications • Marketing and management responsibilities
The opportunity to co-op with a local business will allow students to apply classroom skills to a working environment. They’ll build added confidence and acquire real-world skills to help further their career.
Upon successful completion of the Business Administration AAS Program, the graduate will be able to:
• Describe the basic business functions and how they interact in the business environment. • Apply basic theories and techniques used to ensure successful business outcomes. • Explain today’s interdependent global marketplace and the impact on business • Apply critical thinking skills to be able to recommend appropriate business outcomes in business situations. • Employ effective communication skills. • Apply business learning in real world business environments. • Apply a variety of organizational best practices within a business context, such as ethical, socially responsible or diversity based practices.
