What you will study
This course is concerned with understanding the Earth's environments and the global concerns of humanity. It offers a perfect balance of skills learning and practical fieldwork. Fieldwork takes place in the UK and Europe and beyond. Subjects include globalisation, sustainable development, climate change and mitigation, social justice, cities and ruralities, resource management, geomorphology and geophysical hazards, oceans and atmospheres, environmental monitoring and biodiversity.
Teaching on the course will support students' professional development. It often takes place with planning departments, environmental agencies, business support networks, community organisations and town centre management teams.

This course has been accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (RGS). The University offer a diverse range of modules in both Human and Physical Geography so students are free to choose which areas of the discipline are of most interest to them. Strong emphasis is placed on the applied nature of geography. This means students will engage with real-world learning, working in partnership with local authorities, community groups, international agencies, and NGOs, both in the UK and on fieldwork abroad.
