What you will study
For entry to the 1st year of an undergraduate degree at Bournemouth University. Students' course length is determined mainly by their English language level (UKVI IELTS score or accepted equivalent). All students take a set of common or similar modules to gain key skills for university. If the course is longer than 2 terms, students will take extra modules focusing on one or more of English language, academic skills and basic subject knowledge.
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Sociology and Social Anthropology Students explore the social and cultural dimensions of human experience, and discover universalities and diversities in how humans live. They study identity, class, cultural practices and social change, and their impact on everyday life around the world. This course can open up a range of career options once they graduate. Students will develop a variety of research and analytical skills, in addition to gaining detailed knowledge of current practical social challenges and civil, critical-thinking capabilities, all skills that are sought after by employers. On this course students will be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of each of the units. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, demonstrators, technicians and research students. Students will also benefit from regular guest lectures from industry.
