What you will study
The MSc Global Operations and Supply Chain Management programme equips students with the knowledge and skills to improve organisational efficiency and performance within a global context. Students gain expertise in global operations, supply chain design, and management, developing the ability to enhance business competitiveness through effective processes and strategic decision-making. The programme also allows for specialisation in areas such as purchasing and supply, warehousing, transport, and logistics, aligning study with individual career ambitions. Graduates have the opportunity to become student members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and gain exemptions from the academic requirements for Chartered Membership (CMILT) of the CILT (UK).
The programme emphasises the importance of smooth supply chain operations for business efficiency. It provides an in-depth understanding of systems, processes, and modelling techniques that drive innovation. By analysing supply chain and logistics scenarios from various organisations, students develop the skills to identify inefficiencies, implement improvement strategies, and optimise supply chain performance. The course combines intellectual challenge with practical application, allowing students to apply the latest theory to real-world business problems.
Students benefit from case studies, business consultancy projects, guest speakers, and company visits to employers such as CEVA and Boots, gaining firsthand insights into supply chain operations. The teaching team brings extensive industry experience and a strong network of professional contacts, providing exposure to key figures in the field. The programme also hosts events such as Logistics Week, which connects students with regional, national, and international business communities and showcases the latest developments and technologies. Previous events have featured representatives from leading organisations including DHL, Boots, Toyota, Norbert Dentressangle, Thorntons, CEVA Logistics, Kuehne + Nagel, and notable industry advocates such as Dr Pete Waterman.
