What you will study

University Pathways Fast Track at RMIT UP is an accelerated pathway designed for high-achieving international students, preparing them for university in half the time of a Foundation Studies course. Delivered over one semester by RMIT UP (CRICOS provider number: 01912G), a fully owned entity of RMIT University, the program equips students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for future academic success.

Located in the heart of Melbourne, RMIT UP’s specialist staff support students throughout their journey, while providing opportunities to build global and social networks that contribute to success at RMIT and beyond.

To ensure students get the best start to their studies, RMIT offers careers counselling, as well as academic and welfare support services that can be accessed flexibly.

University Pathways Fast Track features focused, discipline-based streams, allowing students to align their studies with their interests and goals. Available streams include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Art, Design and Architecture, Business, and Communication and Social Context.

Bachelor of Data Science (BP340P23) (110801G) RMIT’s Bachelor of Data Science enables students to build in-demand skills while pursuing their interests in the rapidly expanding field of data science.

The program develops expertise in data analytics, statistics, computer science, machine learning, programming, mathematics and data wrangling, preparing students to contribute to business decision-making, corporate strategy and government planning.

Students build strong problem-solving capabilities and learn to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. The degree also emphasises independent and collaborative work, as well as the application of ethical, legal and professional standards to data-driven projects.

Using cutting-edge technologies, students learn to analyse and manage large, complex datasets from multiple sources, and to evaluate insights and solutions. Hands-on experience is gained through programming in languages such as Python and R.

The degree offers flexibility, allowing students to tailor their studies to their career goals. Students can choose from a range of majors, including advanced data science, cyber security and enterprise systems, and specialise in areas such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, cloud computing, mixed reality, software development and blockchain.

Work-integrated learning is embedded throughout the program, providing opportunities to gain industry experience and build professional connections through capstone projects, case studies and programming studios.
