Langara College
Langara College’s animation department has recently completed the final stage of its Quality Assurance Process Audit and announced the introduction of a new 2D animation program set to begin in Summer 2025. The previous 2D Animation & Digital Art program has been restructured and renamed the 2D Technologies for Film and Games program.
This updated 16-month diploma program offers intensive, industry-focused training designed to prepare students for successful careers in the 2D animation field. The curriculum blends artistic and technical instruction, allowing students to design and animate original characters, integrate sound and storytelling, and take projects from concept to completion using professional industry tools.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students also engage in Life Drawing courses to refine their understanding of movement and form, and Professional Development courses to strengthen their academic and career readiness.
Structured over four consecutive semesters, the program mirrors the fast-paced environment of professional production studios. Graduates will complete the program with a diploma from one of British Columbia’s leading public colleges, along with a professional portfolio and demo reel that showcase their skills and creativity.
