What you will study
The joint honors combination allows students to study two complementary European languages in global cultural contexts.
Beyond Italy, Spain, and other parts of Mediterranean Europe, the program serves as a gateway to the history and literatures of Latin America and the Caribbean.
No previous knowledge of Italian or Spanish is required. Through intensive language study, including a year abroad, students have the opportunity to acquire advanced spoken and written skills in both languages.
Students will learn how to discern different varieties and registers of Spanish and have the option to broaden their linguistic portfolio with Portuguese or Catalan.
In addition to language classes, students will be immersed in an extraordinary range of literature, film, art, and theatre from around the world, explored in a historical context.
