Overview
The Indigenous studies field is rapidly growing, and Wilfrid Laurier University has designed a program to prepare students for important issues in Canada and globally through coursework and community service-learning. The university teaches Indigenous perspectives and experiences, enhancing students' understanding of these issues. Courses will cover Indigenous rights, history, ecological knowledge, and teaching practices, complemented by studies in Indigenous languages, literature, and media. Diverse teaching methods, like planting medicines in the Medicine Garden course, help students understand Indigenous worldviews in their surroundings.
