What you will study
This degree combines the latest in mechatronics technologies, systems engineering and additive manufacturing with international business studies and high-level financial and economic analysis.
Students will learn to design, build and operate smart systems relevant to the aerospace, automotive, food processing and electronics industries, and oversee the development of large-scale, global manufacturing facilities.
With knowledge and skills in engineering and business, students will be uniquely placed to succeed within the globalised engineering economy. They will graduate ready to work in leading national and international companies. This degree will prepare students for a wide range of career possibilities. Students will be able to work across positions within the engineering industry as a technical expert who appreciates the financial side of technology innovation.
As an Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology graduate, students will demonstrate skills across engineering, mechatronics, design, finance and global businesses and be able to communicate their unique ideas to others, as well as continue to learn as a professional engineer.
A student’s studies will include electronic system design, machine intelligence and robotics - combined with finance, the global economy and business management. Students will be able to take a broader view of engineering systems, utilising their knowledge of markets and management.
Students will have the opportunity to design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, as well as taking part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge - a humanitarian-focused course offered in all Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology engineering degrees.
To ensure students graduate job-ready, they will also have an opportunity to undertake a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective.
