What you will study

The Undergraduate Foundation Program in Humanities and Social Sciences is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Lancashire.

The Foundation portion of this program lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

There are four academic pathways to choose from and candidates will study the pathway most suited to their chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare them for university study. The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Life Sciences.

Throughout this history degree, the students will get to choose from modules covering British and Irish history, world history, and heritage and will acquire a deep historical knowledge and understand different periods of history in various parts of the world. The students will be taught by an enthusiastic team of academics as they explore the cultural, diplomatic, political, and social aspects of history. Discover and analyse both primary and secondary sources. Discuss the nuances of different theories and put forward their own arguments in lively and engaging seminars.
