Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Finance (NN23)

Program Description This course is delivered by the AACSB-accredited Business School, an accreditation attained by fewer than 5% of business schools worldwide. It recognizes focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching and student learning.

This course will help students develop a thorough understanding of the workings of national and international capital markets as well as the operation of financial systems (which include banks, stock exchanges, financial intermediaries, financial institutions, and governments). In particular, learning will focus on the pricing of financial assets, the measurement and management of risk, and the possibilities for optimizing the behaviours of firms, financial institutions and individuals.

The second semester of the second year gives students a fantastic opportunity to study abroad, at one of BU's international partner institutions. Currently, Bournemouth University has partners in Australia, Canada and Europe. In year three students will get the opportunity to undertake an optional 30-week placement in the UK or abroad, allowing them to secure career contacts, improve their CV, and ultimately enhance their employability.

Students will also meet leading industry practitioners and professionals through fieldwork, seminars, assessment activities and presentations. The IBM Challenge, a series of simulated business exercises to which hundreds of teams of university students compete in three rounds, will give them the opportunity to further develop their employability competencies and meet potential employers.

All of Bournemouth's accounting and finance courses share the same first year, giving students a comprehensive overview of the sector. If students decide the path you have started isn’t for them, they will be able to transfer to a different specialism at the end of their first year.
