What you will study
This course is offered as a degree with foundation year - a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give students academic and practical experience, as well as the skills they need to ensure they are equipped to successfully complete their chosen degree. The BA Sports Management is an excellent degree choice for students who are motivated by the idea of working in the sports industry, one of the most versatile and exciting sectors in the world. Sport is a fast growing and dynamic global industry that brings together commercial, social and political interests. There are fantastic opportunities for graduates who have a good understanding of the sports industry to apply their management, leadership and business skills. Students of this degree course will benefit from the University of Roehampton's partnerships with a range of prestigious sports organisations such as Crystal Palace FC, Fulham FC, The Lawn Tennis Association, Hercules Wimbledon Athletics Club, schools and coaching agencies. This programme was designed with input from the University of Roehampton's partners in the professional sports industry. These partners have given insight into what really matters in the business of sport, and the University of Roehampton has designed a programme that reflects the skills and knowledge required of graduates who go on to become successful in that business. Through their association with the Roehampton Business School, the University of Roehampton will be able to equip students with business, management and marketing skills. Students will then further develop and apply these skills in a number of varied and dynamic sport-related contexts. The University of Roehampton will give students insight into the complex world of sports marketing, sponsorship and media, and explain their relationship to, for instance, eSports and other emerging markets As such, the aim of the programme is to produce graduates who: • can demonstrate a theoretical, analytical and practical understanding of the principles that underpin the sports management sector • can demonstrate a range of skills in relevant sports-related contexts • are capable of working in interdisciplinary environments • are equipped to meet the challenges of the local, regional and national sports management industry • have developed an academic curiosity and a set of academic skills that encourages further study
