Canadore College - College Drive
The Environmental Technician program at Canadore College prepares students for meaningful careers in environmental science, sustainability, and resource management. This two‑year Ontario College Diploma program provides a strong foundation in the practical and theoretical aspects of environmental protection, monitoring, and remediation.
Students learn to collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data, while gaining hands‑on experience in field sampling, laboratory analysis, water and wastewater testing, air and soil quality assessment, and environmental legislation compliance. The curriculum integrates the study of ecosystems, sustainability practices, pollution control, and environmental health and safety to address the growing need for environmental stewardship in industry and government.
Hands‑on training is delivered through fieldwork, laboratory sessions, and applied research projects conducted in modern facilities and outdoor environments. Students work on real‑world environmental challenges, developing both technical and analytical skills essential to the profession.
Graduates are prepared for employment in environmental consulting firms, municipal, provincial, and federal agencies, industrial facilities, laboratories, and conservation organizations, or may continue toward advanced diplomas or degrees in environmental science or engineering technology.
