What you will study
The MSc International Tourism and Hospitality Management programme is designed for individuals seeking to build a successful career in the global tourism and hospitality industry. It introduces key principles and concepts of management while developing the knowledge, skills, and industry awareness required to thrive in this dynamic field. The programme provides a comprehensive understanding of how tourism and hospitality sectors operate, alongside an exploration of responsible development and its impact on society.
Students gain insight into current trends and challenges across local, national, and international contexts, enabling them to develop forward-thinking strategies for organisations. The course content covers a wide range of topics, including tourism development, business performance and metrics, consumer behaviour and visitor experience, leadership and people management, sustainability, marketing and strategic management, data collection and analysis, and operational value. Learning is delivered through case studies and practical projects, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is applied to real-world scenarios.
The programme also offers opportunities to engage with real business challenges, helping students build practical skills that are highly valued by employers. Through this applied approach, students learn to translate theory into practice and strengthen their professional capabilities.
An optional Advanced Practice component is available after completion of the taught modules. This stage includes a 12-week internship or applied consulting project with a real organisation, allowing students to work on live management issues. This experience provides valuable exposure to workplace environments and enhances employability by offering practical insights into current industry challenges. The internship may be paid or unpaid. Additionally, the Advanced Practice stage supports students in developing a deeper understanding of the industry, which informs their progression to the dissertation phase.
