What you will study

Program Description Foundation Studies Program (Standard) - Physical Science (X0F:5) (0100808):

The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.

To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.

Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science - Oceanography (P3L):

University of Tasmania’s Marine and Antarctic Science degree is the only one of its kind in Australia and is offered at one of the best places in the world for temperate marine studies. It gives the skills and knowledge for a career in the exciting, growing and globally critical marine, fisheries, aquaculture and Antarctic sectors.

Students who enjoy the natural and physical sciences, can combine their passion for science with a love of the outdoors and adventure. This could be by pursuing a career in research, or in a more applied way through the sustainable aquaculture industry. For those interested in politics and policy, the world needs experts who understand the complexities of the University of Tasmania’s marine environments to help set marine and Antarctic governance, working with countries, governments and private businesses all over the world towards common, sustainable goals.

Students can be working with countries, governments and private businesses all over the world to realise common, sustainable development outcomes. They will learn at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), the University of Tasmania’s world-class centre of excellence for marine and Antarctic research and education.
