Berkeley City College's Art Department offers an Associate in Arts Degree in Art program. Various required and elective courses focus on individual creative development and provide a broad range of classroom and studio experiences. Art courses fulfill requirements for transfer or prepare students for careers requiring competency in visual media.

Students who complete the program will be able to: • Communicate and problem-solve in at least two media.

• Write a visual analysis/critique of their own and others’ art based on both form and content, and their relations to a global context. • Recall and summarize key movements in the history of art and contemporary art on a global scale and understand and articulate how this legacy influences their artwork. • Assemble a portfolio of strong artwork which collectively demonstrates skill, understanding of techniques in a given medium, originality, thoughtfulness, and personal expression.
