The Bachelor of Arts - Spanish program produces students who are well versed in Spanish language, composition, and stylistics, with exposure to Spanish-speaking cultures and literature. Spanish, one of the world’s great “lingua fracas” (working languages) is also known for its richness of expression in vocabulary and nuance. The requirement of a minor enriches this plan. Each day, the world becomes more close-knit. Global trade, the Internet, and improvements in transportation are accelerating rates of cultural and intellectual exchange. In this international climate, second-language skills will open doors in many careers.
This program prepares students for the future by immersing them in diversity. With the linguistic, literary, and cultural approaches to language study, students will learn to think critically and develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will grow to understand and appreciate diverse cultures. By mastering a second language, students will discover new opportunities in the global marketplace.
