Double Degree - Bachelor of Fine Arts - New Media & Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (Optional Co-op)

Demand is increasing for new media artists that draw from an extensive computer science foundation. This five-year combined degrees program bridges the gap between fine arts and computer science, providing a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Through new media studies, students will explore the interconnectivity between technology, art, industry, and culture. They will examine, study and create using a wide range of technologies and techniques in graphic, web and interaction design, 3D modelling, animation, video game design and development, screenwriting, cinema production and studies, and new media theory.

Students will combine their foundation in new media with studies in computer science, delving into the study of algorithms, data structures and their applications to develop efficient solutions to global problems.

In the student's final year of the BFA-New Media, they can choose either an industry internship or advanced studio. Each option provides particular benefits as the students transitions into a career or graduate studies.

The advanced studio course focuses on creative applications of new media where students will undertake a self-directed project. If They are interested in research, graduate studies, or a scholastic challenge, they can also apply to take this course with the Honors Thesis designation. This will appear on the student's official transcript and degree parchment.
