What you will study
The BA (Hons) Business Accounting and Finance with Placement Year provides access to a Financial Markets Lab, offering hands-on experience with the same information and technology used by financial professionals worldwide. The course develops a new generation of versatile business and finance graduates, combining accounting and finance expertise with knowledge of leadership, strategy and governance. A strong emphasis is placed on problem-solving through projects for real organisations, supported by teaching from experts who contribute to contemporary business and finance thinking.
This degree offers a powerful blend of financial and management accounting, business strategy and organisational leadership, equipping graduates for rapid progression across a wide range of global business accounting and finance careers. An optional placement year allows the practical application of skills in a real-world environment, providing valuable industry experience, professional networks and enhanced employability.
The course is aligned with professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). On successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for all 11 of the maximum exemptions offered by CIMA, along with additional exemptions from ACCA and ICAEW. Students can also register with CIMA during their studies to access professional benefits and support. Throughout the programme, practical experience is further enhanced through the use of professional data and information services, including Bloomberg and specialist accounting software.
