If students hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Course length is determined mainly by students English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If their course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Science - Computer Engineering Advances in technology are yielding smaller and higher-performance computer systems permeating into a wide range of applications, from communication systems to consumer products and common household appliances. Computer engineering encompasses the principles, methods, and modern tools for the design and implementation of computing systems.
The University of Essex MSc Computer Engineering is the first in the UK and provides a balanced perspective of both hardware and software elements of computing systems, and their relative design trade-offs and applications. It will build on the student's knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering to ensure they have a sound foundation in the areas needed for a career in this field.
Laboratory experiences enable students to understand experimental design and simulation techniques. Essex is internationally leading in this and students will have access to unique computer engineering platforms including their: Intelligent Flat (iSpace), robotics Arena, Networked intelligent campus (iCampus), and advanced networking and multimedia labs.
